View Full Version : Character: flying pig
flyingP 07-06-2003, 01:43 PM Hi guys this is my pig. I originally started him in cimema R6 a few years ago, had a hell of a time getting him animated (He's actually rather badly modelled, too many triangles) and ended up putting him to one side, in the meantime I am considering pulling him into R8, getting him fixed up and animated for my website, to which I have a question, anyone got an idea on a good 'simple' way to do feathers in Cinema? I was never really quite happy with these, heaps of poly's and a they're real pain to texture.

Yeah, the 'ig' fell of somewhere, and he damn near was animated I just kept running into to many annoying problems, he was more or less my first 3D project and I didn't really have the faintest idea what I was doing at that point (not that much has changed there), but I want to see him flying as well, that's why I have pulled him out again, may just mean a complete remodel though and I still have no idea how to do feathers properly.

Hah! Thats great...
Not sure how to help you in the feather department.
Right now they look a little "Graphic" , too perfect perhaps.
His legs and feet could use a little more definition.
Looks great... love the face.

"Graphic" is a good description and actually along the lines of my own thoughts, still no problem I guess I'll just have to sit down and experiment a bit more, in the meantime I do have a few (vague) ideas, just need to find some extra time to try them out.

surely pigs would have furry wings, or possibly bat-like wings. They are mammals after all.

Great looking pig! About the feathers, pupi posted a very short tutorial not long ago in the Renderosity C4D-forum on how he made the feathers for his image Ladybird (http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=337243&Start=1&Artist=pupi&ByArtist=Yes) . The tutorial is to be found here -- pupi's feathers (http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1120492).
