Does anyone know if there is an edge selection plug in for Lightwave? Maya has me spoiled rotten in being able to edge select? Also.. Does anyone know what the 3D Max camfer equivilent is in Lightwave? I am migrating back to my first love Lightwave, but am really missing some of my tools.

Edges can be created and removed but there are no direct ways to do it. As for chamfering do a search on flay.com in the plugins section under bevel. Lightwave has a variety of tools for achieving those effects such as the router tool, rail bevel and others. Youll find a few things on flay as well. Take a look
at edge bevel, bevel++ and so on. Also do a search under fillet.
Richard Braks Rounder plugin is also good.
The stuff is there, you just have to dig a little. :)
Got this off the LW3d yahoogroups list the other day;
This band point selector plugin gives you a psuedo 'edge loop' selection function.

You just have to think in edges as the middle of two points... remember mathematics? The smalest distance between two points is an.. edge? (hehe, just kiding)
You can play with edges selecting two points... using David Ikeda's set of plugins you can do a loop or a ring selection.
To extrude an edge, you can select two points (or more) and use any of the extender's plugins avaliable. To chamfer edges, you have to select two polys, use band saw pro, turn to point selection and scale the new edges.
To work with edges in LW you just have to focuse on it's points.
Hope it helps

another good plug for edges is edge tools - allows you to interactly cut new edges and far more fleable tna using bandsaw etc
also allows you to collapse and remove edges
closest thing lw has to edges
Maya has me spoiled rotten in being able to edge select
it hasnt spoiled me :shrug:
in fact,even in version 5 maya's selection tools are as clunky as ever...awkward at best
