I know this isn't the best forum for this question but if anyone has the answer I'd be much obliged:

hi everyone. This is a pretty basic question, but still a little hard to explain. I have a sequence of frames that I'm importing to after effects rendered out by maya. it's an outside shot and the files are .iffs and they all have an alpha channel that leaves out the sky. I wanted to make the sky with after effects. when I import the footage I choose the "straight - unmatted" option so it will leave the sky part out of the sequence so I can add the sky in later with layering. the problem is when I put the sky behind the sequence, the layer leaves a grey border around the objects in the outdoor scene rendered out by maya so it doesnt look very nice or realistic. How do I get rid of the grey border when using alpha channels? I'm not very good at explaining so please let me know if anyone needs more info :p

try to invert your alpha mask while importing

if grey border is still there... try to erase it with linear color keying

If you are rendering the layers with black background try this

rigth click on the footage "interpret footage"

and pick premultiplied - matte color -

and choose your background color , i prefer black !! but it should work with any color.
