I just installed Maya 5 and its running realy slow. I'm running an Athlon 700, 384megs of ram, g-force 2 32megs. Is my system too weak? Max runs fine. Is there a way to set up graphics preferences? I cant find a dropdown tab for program preferences any where. Any ideas?

what is it doing exactly? its just not running fast in general? do you have alot of stuff open while its running?

Sorry Friend I think it might be time for an upgrade...ive been running it on a 1 Ghz 512 Ram 64MB GeForce2...and it got LAGGY a lot....Put it on a 3Ghz w/ HT 1 Gig Ram and Radeon 9800 128MB and it was flawless in itz performance :)

still 700mhz isnt horrendous, but it would be slower im sure that is your reason also.

Thanks guys, It doesn't load realy slow just slightly slower than max. It only bogs down when I have texture maps visible. The only geometry in the scene is two planes with texture maps applied. I had a similar problem in max because it was set to open gl instead of direct x. How do I change program preferences in maya?
