View Full Version : Character: Warrior - (Wip: Only LEGS)
plaguelord 07-05-2003, 10:20 PM Hi, I´m close to finish a new character, and I focus to correct all part before rigging. I already post the head, chest here and the focused critiques really help me a lot. Now is time to the legs and his super cool war-boots.
I´m happy with the result, but some fresh eyes can see some unwanted mistakes.
software: max 5
render: brazil r/s
critique the modeling and texturing. (texturing very wip)

maybe it's the perspective but the feet look too small for the legs.
I personaly like my warriors with thicker mor muscular legs, that aren't too long, but that might just be me.

Can't think of much to critisize about this one, looks pretty good. I am glad to see that you added good tone to the legs without overdoing the muscles. I don't think many true warriors had a lot of time to spend in the gym working with heavy weights to produce the mr. universe legs that many people think they should have. So the only thing that I can think to crit is the colors and textures used on the boots, I don't quite understand what any of them are related to. For a typical warrior it would be best to think about what kind of warrior he is, and who does he fight, and what materials does his tribe/country have an abundance of. Tribal warriors would have a lot of animal type designs, while industrial countries would be geared toward metal or newer designs dependant upon their individual technological and artitsic developement. Just a couple things that you should think about when creating fasion.

the top of the boots looks weird and the feel seem way to small.

thanks to all for the comments!
jrwells, you rigth, I know are some weak points on the desing. (but is my third warrior kind character) =P
I suck with material so by now I finish the entire model and post the result in the Wip 3d section. I´m in the texturing stage now. but Its very hard... maybe I skip the texture and go to rigging for some nice shots.
here a zoom on the boot without material

it looks like it's made of dough. not just because it's gray, but because everything is kind of blobby, tubular, fat, etc.
