Hi all,

Ok so this is going to be the first HMC I've taken part in so wish me luck and hopefully be able to finish depending on workload.

So I've decided on the Thunder Tank and the reason why, well I personally love the ThunderCats and have recently been watching the 1st series again. Then this came up and I've been meaning to model a Thunder Tank for awhile so thought sod it, lets try and do it.

I'll try and upload as much as I can so I'll start with the references I've found so far, tho it's been hard work finding good examples!

Ok so here's the first part of the blocking out, it's really hard to get the correct dimensions for this and didn't want to get into too much detail before I had the right proportions.

Will start working on the main body of the tank after the weekend.

Rock and Roll! I always loved how the Thundertank got a new ability every time they showed it. :D

Haha yeah I know what you mean, like when they would drop in the "and now I've modified it to work underwater" and then 2 mins later it was underwater!

Oh btw loving the work on the Cheetara model, can't wait to see the final model! :D

OMG The Thundertank ruled! Every clip it was in it would be accompanied by guitars twanging in spectacular fashion! :buttrock:

Already looking great!

Haha yeah it was all about the music. I also loved the fact (which I never noticed before I started this) how much the tank changed each episode, sometimes flatter, sometimes different teeth at the front, even the scale changed quite dramatically at times, but it was always very very cool :D

Here's another update working on mainly the claw arms and the front

Hey all, sorry been awhile for an update, been off sick.

Anyway here's the next update, I've been mainly working on the tracks and a slight tweak of the shape of the main body part.

Next I'm planning on starting to add detail to the panels so hopefully have another update soon.

Nicely done! There's something really raw about the Thundertank. It just seems to embody everything about the 80s in its design :) If I get my Panthro finished I don't think I'll be able to resist the temptation to model up my own Thundertank.

Once you have it modelled you should rig it and make an animation of it crashing through a hillside (obviously accompanied with the pre-mentioned spectacular guitar effects).

Hey, next update

As you can see, added detail to the claw arm panels and now working on the main body of the tank next.

*Pete2003 - Cheers, yeah i'd love to have the chance to rig it all but think i'm gonna struggle with time and work. Loving the style of your Panthro and looking forward to seeing the finished render, along with Thundertank ;)

Yeah. I know exactly what you mean with finding the time :D I doubt I'll be done by the deadline but will probably just continue it in the WIP forum (I have enough deadlines to contend with at work :) ) Nice to see the latest update rendered, those tracks render out very nicely!
