Looks like a very good start to me, the edge of the upper lip might be a bit sharp.
Love to see it a little bit bigger.

Thanks for your comments.

Levitateme: What do you mean by "brought back"? Should I pull the brow back a bit and smooth out the wrinkles?

I think Levitateme meant that the brow comes down a little far over the eye sockets... But whether or not you want to change that all depends on the purpose of the model, I think - if it's supposed to be photoreal, then yes, I think it might look a little better if the brow didn't jut out over the eyes quite so much. However, if it's not meant to be photoreal, then the pronounced brow gives the character a certain intensity that can be very cool...

Very nice model, Traiven... It'll be cool to see the final product. BTW, what 3D package are you using to create Harold?

I just found that...

you might want to model more wrinkles both strong ones and subtle ones.

the mesh looks maybe too clean?

I'll talk to you.;)

hedphurst: Thanks for the input... i'm using 3dsmax 5.

neversong: K. I was thinking that the most sensible thing to do would be to add the tiny skin wrinkles with a bump map. Any suggestions on where I might add more defined wrinkles?

my suggestion: soften the wrinkles on the forhead, usuallyl forhead wrinkles come with age, and are quite subtle. This character is "big" ... and therefore shouldn't really have wrinkles, as much as perhaps double chin ...

I think you are doing VERY well  :D

Hey~

Where? well, you tell me~ :D

I think, if you are focusing on modeling with this one,
modeling wrinkles will be the way you should take than just texturing. just my thought.

Okay, well i've gone back and done some more work on Harry. When I first modeled him, I created the creases in his brow so that he could be animated to emote, yet I never went back and flattened them out.

So I decided to go with the flow and give Harold an expression.

Neversong: Good point! Will get onto that.

Cheers!

those forehead wrinkles are still way off. they're too even and distinct and they span the entire forehead which looks odd. also the upper lip looks really flat. round it out a bit.

also it looks as if there's a ton of fat in his upper cheeks but none down by the jaw where it should accumulate.

try finding a picture of fat marlon brando and use it as reference. ;)
