Nice work on an awesome car. I recently had the opportunity to see a real one at a small car show around here. It was all original with a few restorations. Couldn't get too close to it though because it was roped off, but the owner started it up, and man, it sounded wicked.

Keep up the great work!

My neighbor has an original...and the best thing, he doesnt garage it....its got over 300K miles on it, and most parts are original, he just does a real good job of keeping it up...

i hate to see good cars go to waste...im sure the one at that car show was loaded onto a truck afterand taken to a garage...i hate to see that...

update: added the side exhaust pipes and cut out the doors although I haven't worked on them yet. Added some wheels although I will probably change them later. Also did a lot of tweaking on the body. Side exhausts were done in Rhino because it has better NURBS tools than Max any day of the week. They took me less than 30 minutes to complete. C&C welcome.

please change the wheels, i know you say probably, but you should make it a definite! don't ruin a beautiful model like that ;) great job!

p.s. the rims are nice, but not for a cobra is all i mean.

Yes, please change the wheels! It's hard to go wrong with a set of good old 5 spoke wheels. Saw this at a car show this saturday, I would have taken more pictures of it if I knew someone was modeling it:

http://www.danielbuck.net/wip/cobra1.jpg

The 5 spokes look quite good on this cobra.

Nice choice of a vehicle to model! I only wish you wouldn't have gotten to it before I did! haha!

The door needs some more work, almost nothing is worse on a nice looking car than when the door is crooked and doesn't line up. It doesn't quite line up with the body, and has some large gaps.

Keep it up!

Update: Made the gear stick
Image: http://www.threedy.com/attachment.php?postid=89044

render with all the pieces up to this point put together. Changed the steering wheel from the left to the right side because left-hand drives suck. Added the driver side bars behind the seat and added some new tires that I think are better suited to the Cobra.

This is just a quick render I did for the hell of it. Textures are by no means even remotely properly done, they are just colors basically. You can get a better view of the tires from this angle. The vehicle is nearing completion, I only have a few more parts to finish like the inside of the front area and the suspension system for the wheels as well as more detailing for the interior. C&C welcome as usual

I decided to change the rims yet again. This time I just decided to stick with the stock rims. They are poly hogs but I think they look quite good. There is a pic of the real rims for comparison. Which of the 3 rims that have been on this car so far do you prefer? C&C welcome as usual.

Update...Added the front suspension system. This is not an accurate representation of the Cobra's suspension system because the references I found didn't really show it well and also because I don't plan on having any closeups of it. It's just there for those low angle shots where it would be expected that you would see the shocks and stuff.

Low poly wire:

this is the current state of the car, only a few more things to do:

looking nice. hope you do a nice aluminum shell version, those are sweet. never noticed that it's right hand drive. never seen one actually. only thing is, and i can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't look as "phat" as error404's pic, that could be the flares though. but all systems go for a beautiful render!
