Minneapolis, MN – (March 5, 2009) – Design & animation studio motion504 recently joined forces again with ad agency Campbell Mithun to deliver a magnificent beauty spot for Dualiste, the next revolution in hair care products by Nexxus.

Enhancing the spot’s overall aesthetic, motion504 created VFX and backgrounds of thoughtfully subtle detail that reflect the Nexxus brand’s stylish image, while showcasing custom offerings from the Dualiste line including color protection, hydration, volume and anti-breakage. Featuring the tagline, “Finally color care without compromise,” the spot dazzles with a pair of models flourishing their shimmering locks, as close-ups of glowing blue-and-white Dualiste products mesmerize.

“motion504 worked as a true partner in the execution of the Dualiste spot,” says Nicole Ackmann, Campbell Mithun Creative Director. “Having them involved in the pre-production, as well as the production made the final post process one of the best I've ever experienced. They had a clear understanding of our vision and made the final film look fantastic.”

motion504 was responsible for post supervision, creating the type treatments, invisible VFX, and compositing. Andy Reynolds, motion504 Owner/Creative Director, provided on-set supervision for the five-day pre-production and shoot, which took place at Palma Pictures in Majorca, Spain.

“The footage looked beautiful right out of the camera,” says Reynolds. “[Director] Stephen Mead specializes in high-end hair shoots and really knew how to showcase the end results. It was a great collaboration on-set. The entire production crew from Palma Pictures was awesome. I can’t say enough nice things about them – they were a well-equipped and well-run studio.”

The commercial was shot on super 35mm film, which provided flexibility for framing the shots on the back end. Fischer Edit’s JoLynn Garnes was brought into the project by motion504 to handle the offline. motion504 Creative Directors Scott Wenner and Amy Schmitt created the type treatment and graphics during the offline, exploring different ideas and working closely with the Campbell Mithun team.

"Because the spot focuses on how amazing hair can look, every little detail is incredibly important,” comments Wenner. “And even though the footage looked beautiful we were able to take it one step further—through invisible effects, highlights and color work—to make the details pop."

“Campbell Mithun wanted the peace of mind of having us take care of everything,” concludes Eric Mueller, motion504 Executive Producer. “The agency creative directors were really in sync with their client’s needs, so by the time we presented, the changes were minimal. It was a nice vote of confidence that we got to oversee all of the post and to be on-set to ensure everything went smoothly.”
