View Full Version : glamour girl (crits and comments PLEASE!)
che-che 03-05-2009, 03:43 PM just a quick doodle of a girl and decided to paint it cause i havent painted in a long time.
i would like some hard crits and comments on this. i want to get better at this painting stuff.
my steps, i doodled the image, layed the base color down, block shaded it, smoothed out the shading and then added the highlights.

Where are her arms? I understand that it's a glamour shot but I think it would be much stronger if you could see one of her arms. Maybe if it's bent up and she's doing something interesting with her hands, it would look better.
Other than that, maybe add some more pink into her face so she looks more alive. And maybe some more detail in her hair. I don't know what look you're going for but I think if the hair looked less like one solid object, it would go more with the style you are portraying.
I like it a lot though so I can't wait to see it finished.
Good luck!
P.S. I think layering works much better than block shading but that's up to you.
I have to agree with the lack of arms. She really needs to have an arm in there otherwise she comes across as just a torso. Also, everything above the neck is reading flat. There is a lack of depth that is present in the jewelry, chest and dress.
