Hi all
this one is my entry utilizing Houdini to get some convincing lightning effect.
This first try is a mix of CHOP animated splines and lsystem rendered as a volume.
For me the hard part seems the timing and the secondary motion in the branches.
Soon i post some motion...

Very nice!

I'm glad to see someone trying this with houdini. Indeed I think the most challenging part is to make possible a realistic animation of the sparks.

If you can already already get correct lighting and GI contribution from the sparks directly in 3d, no doubt the end result will be very nice.

thx ulb,

for this one i don't want to use gi because Houdinis physical based rendering is quite slow
and has problems with shading volumes, but there is already some light instancing on the
major branches... rendertime is about 10 seconds now..

Good start with the lightning Fex. I'll enjoy seeing what you do with Houdini.
