I ve made a biped, rigged it and skinned it. The arm part is pretty much rigged like PEN's Arm Setup for Twist Bones. i first skinned the right side(wich works like it should be) and mirrored it over to the other. But now, some vertices just seem to flipping around on the right side for no reason. I already checked each bone but they stay in place and dont flip. Besides, the mirrored opposite works just fine as it should be. This is the second time i face this problem and still dont know how to solve this or what causes it.

i attached a short quicktime wich simply shows how the arm move up and that strange vertex flipping happens.

Hey,

I guess that the polys are still weighted to some other bone, although that arm looks really weird. Use the Weight Table in your Skin modifier (You find it under "Parameter") to find out. If you wonder , why nothing happens, you need to select"Edit Envelopes" and the "Vertices" button at the top of the parameter tab.

Could you please go into some more details about what you did in detail in the mirroring process, as a reference to workstep in a 2 hour DVD (although it probably is very good) is not quite enough ;).

How high is your threshold setting in the Mirror Verts rollout?

today, i merged the model into a new scene and skinned it once more. and again, after mirroring process, the mirrored side works and the original get wrong. hm, maybe its something off with the rig?

@dunkelzahn
well, i tried to weight the complete Upper Arm verts to one of the twist bones wich works(verts flickering is gone), but as soon i try to share the weight between 2 bones the flickering is back. even if i mirrored the (working) left site to the right he starts flickering again.

@PEN
i didnt touch the mirror treshold, its still set to 0.5. but i was wondering, when i applied the skin modifier to the model, the mirror offset was -15 by default (wich is odd, isnt it?) even while the model pivot is set to 0.0 at Xpos. i dont know, maybe that has something to do with it.

i m out of ideas right know. if it helps, i can send you the scene file by mail

phew, i figured it out. it seems that the right upper bone was responsible for the flickering. replacing the the bad bone with a new one helped. i even could mirrored the left side back, so i didnt lost any skin weights. oh man, what a thrill, cost me 2 days. still dont know what causes the problem, hm, anyway thx for the response.
