Hello,

I have been trying to find out the FX studios worldwide that
a) Use 3ds max as the primary app and
b) Use plugins such as FumeFX/Afterburn/Krakatoa etc.

So far all i know of is Frantic, Digital Dimension, Blur and Uncharted Territory.
Just wondering if anyone knew of any others?
Thought it might be handy for the community to know the Max/fume based studios out there.

Cheers :)

(ha ha wreath, I was just talking to Allan about piximondo)

Keep in mind that alot of places don't just use one 'primary app'. But yeh it would be interesting to know.

I thought Scanline used Flowline for their fluid sim needs (could be wrong though)...

Sure Scanline uses Flowline but for some shots (i.e Planecrash in the german movie Mogadishu) they used FumeFX/TP3 for the Dust.

Here, Encore Hollywood.
We are 3ds max + Fusion house mainly work for episodic TV.
Our main show is House, M.D. All vfx in House since season 1 have done with 3ds max.

I believe Plastic Wax in Sydney also use 3ds max, Fume and Afterburn for some of their stuff.

EdenFX uses Max just for VFX work (Thinking Particles, FumeFX), even though they are mainly a Lightwave house

Frantic Films is a Max house (for most of their work. Maya among others is used too however...) that provides its own line of max plugins too.
