Okay, so I've never done one of these- only ever been a spectator. I have no idea how this is going to go, hahah! The funny thing, too, is my Windows partition took a crap yesterday, so I only have my Linux partition right now. I've been working on learning Blender, ever so slowly, so I guess now I have no choice! My husband was joking last night- "Trial by Fire!" so here we go!!

So I'm going to do some characters from Unico and the Island of Magic and maybe some from The Fantastic Adventures of Unico. I'm not sure how much I can get done in the timeframe, especially when I'm trying to familirize myself with a new program, too. I definitely want to at least do Unico, and possibly either Kuruku or Toby. Here are some pictures (there aren't very many out there unfortunately).

Well, I've gotten started at least. It's been very frustrating. I feel like it's taking four times as long since I'm constantly having to stop and figure out how to do what I want, but it's getting there. At least learning Blender this way is more entertaining than working through boring chapters in a book. Right now I'm just working one side and letting the mirror modifer keep it symmetrical.

Some more work today. I feel like I'm getting a little better. Lol, I have the hotkeys pasted under the glass on my desk now and that's helping a ton. I worked out some topology stuff today to try and make edge flow a bit nicer.

These are the reference images I was using in Blender (some of them I had to do a screencaptures of the video to get them. I wish there were more pictures out there.)

Tomorrow I need to figure out how to do textures in Blender. I'm also thinking I might look into Hair/Fur for the hair and tail instead of modeling it. It would be cool, too, if I could do fur over the whole body. I have no idea how to do it, though, so I'll have to see if it's covered in my book or see what I can find in the manuals and online.

Very cute! I like how you did the shape of the ears. I've dabbled in Blender, but haven't tried fur yet. Good luck!

Yes, I am still around, and yes I still plan on working on this! Had two deaths in the family all within a week of each other, been working on fixing my Windows partition, and hubby had a flat tire on the way to work this morning which has kept me busy all day as I try to get things fixed while he uses my car. Ugh, so yeah, hopefully I can get some updates up soon.
