Hello,
just placing wip ,gonna start modeling about 8th as I have a lot of work for now :)
I choose The Moomins,starting from their house . I would really like to model the outside and inside,but i will need strong references to do it right.

Hello again
I gathered some reference materials,started modeling yesterday evening and today,and here it is ...progress:)

well there is similar building in real world as in 1st post but it's different in details,scale,some materials..

Still, thinking about windows:) trying different ideas
question - is there good geometry proxy in mental ray/max?
I want to go into really large poly count as its modeling challange but i know that it's not going to handle (viewport) >3 milions poly or rendering whole big scene at a time...

Now i like those windows ,next I will refine back of the house - basement's outside,then
i'm going to block in inside of the house ,because I need to know if windows are in good position to cut holes in building:)

Hey looking good though have to be honest I don't have a clue about this show. For the roofs I like the second one better (the one with more detail)

I started fight with proportions and modeling saloon...
Often I wonder if thing is too long or its just camera/drawing ilusion :)

Looking good sir. Though I would say your renders are slightly too bright to make out all the detail.

Thank you for replies ,sorry for not posting new images for few days but it would be waste of time (too many changes),
scale should be quiet ok ,i need to model more detail ,but for now im finishing things in kitchen and 2 other rooms (one that i post before)
I cut windows and doors ,rescaled this and that ...so much work to do .. 0_O

About rendering - I know it doesnt look decent but it renders quiet quickly and you can see edges + surface ,its just ao ,i will have fun with gi and etc later :)
Also I tried "super render" script for max which should render fragments of image and then weld into one big but it doesnt work ..maybe problems with camera correction modifier:/
I will run out of ram if i want to render 4kx4k outside otherwise ...
In next few days i will show another rooms with full detail,and probably wip of first floor:)

Numbers - 370k poly so far its ok but after turbosmooth it rapidly grows to 1kk+ :p
question - can i use normal/displacement maps ? or everything must be in geometry ?

there is 4th room that is empty for now ,i have no idea what is there ,i didnt find any images with this so far ,so maybe after i do what i can do I will watch more moomins or design something myself ..

I had no time to work on this project for 2 weeks but now i do...
Today - placed models of one room , i have also started stairs and etc.
I think i'm not going to miss deadline ? :P

i love posting to myself:P
now really rough render ,might be too dark but it's not so important now..
I really need to finish walls ,cut windows ,bend them,open doors give'em ms,displace some...
I'm looking for some lighting solution in mr. to lit outside and inside in one scene without -run out of memory- or no rendering when i turn GI on (well i turned it off becouse it doesn't start rendering at all;/)
polycount - 1kk+500k with proxy so far..
