View Full Version : Still: Environment Forest
LXStalker 07-04-2003, 01:28 PM last year i participated on the enchanted forest challenge here on cgtalk.
now went back to the scene to make a animation of it. i added foreground objects and iŽll add a little castle in the water. the castle will be the POI of the image.
please tell me what you donŽt like on the image and how i could improve it. IŽm definetly NOT heading for photorealism.
Are there areas which "disturb" you or is there something else which gets to your attention in a negative way ? iŽm mainly interested in your FIRST Impression and maybe the second. ;)
since this is WIP some areas are not finished, so donŽt comment on them, please! this areas are:
- the water
- the red cylinder (stand. in for a little guard tower)
- sharpness of foreground objects
- lighting of the leaves (BGLayer)
this is the last frame of a 400 frames cam flight. iŽll post the first frame later, to get comments on this, too.
soft: Max (BG) and Maya (FG)
GI only used for the BG Layers Leaves (but iŽll reender them to get this animation GI-free and to improve the look of the leaves) ;)

what areas of this picture are disturbing or look odd ?

:) your forest isn't ugly...I like it,but it's difficult to comment, when you start by saying all the topics we should not comment. The only thing that was bothering me,was the really blurry look the tree's on the background got in comparison to the little plants at the bottom of the picture ... .
Don't know why but I like the second picture better
I think you did a good job on the water,Like the color...Looks really special,I was just imagining a little fairy sitting on the rock in the middle of the picture touching the water and letting it slip trough her little fingers...
The little white guardtower seems to clean to fit into the picture, maybe gice it a more Ivory look...:)
Hi!
It's wonderful !!
The scene has a very good atmosphere.
The only "error" i found,( on the first frame pic ) the stone texture is looking strange.
sorry 4 bad english!

Why would you use MAX for part and MAYA for the other?
Looks good, mack.
This is beautifull, The atmosphere is really nice!!
for my point I think I would contrast it a little and Make a bigger size one for my desktop background!! :D

kuro hime: there is no guardtower. the cylinder was just a stand-in for the final model. See the picture below ;)
cly: which stones ? the ones in the foreground ? in which way, do they look strange ? gimme a hint.
chris: oh thats simples: the background was done one year ago. now i feel more comfortable with maya, so i decided to do the foreground with maya.
heres an update:

 Oops Sorry...
Just thought you were going for the ivory tower look (Neverending story...)
Little towers are cool,hehe.
Can we see some creatures who live there?
But I guess that's not part of your project...:annoyed:

The Backround is very nice looking to me, the foreground is almost too sharp? But i think they go well with eachother, the only problem is the water seems to flat.
