View Full Version : Creating Multiple UV sets on one model?
Digital Ninja 07-04-2003, 07:04 AM Hey all,
I was wondering, how do you set up multiple UV sets on a single model?
I want to get some good detail in my texturing so If I wanted say to be able to map the head, then can I make a seperate set for the hair as well?
I tried creating a new UV set, but everytime I do when I select the whole model I just see all the UV's I have tried to put into different sets on the same page.
Anyone know what to do?
Thanks

hey!!:wavey:
can't you just seperate the hair and then texture it seperatly?
then you coould join them together sfter ( not sure if they would keep the seperate uv's then tho.)\
this is assuming your using poly's for the hair?
cheers!!

as you already stated, you check 'create new UV set' and give it a name when you create your map for the hair.
then in Windows>Relationship Editor>UV linking you connect your shaders to the right UV set.
i cant remember right now how you can select which UV set you want displayed in the editor....i believe it was something like 'set current UV set', either somewhere in edit polygons or the UV texture editor.

for character heads you shouldnt need multiple UVsets(main functionality is used in combo with layered textures to create lightmaps and or labels/decals).....either detach seperate the hair and map it seperately and then re attach with texture setting off.....or just cut the uvs alont the hairline to seperate the Uv shells.
learn to use the View faces of selected images and the Isolate select functionality in the Texture editor. this will make it easier to see only the UVs you want to edit.
