hey guys,

im having problems getting a good water texture for my scene- i cant get the ior right so that you can see through the water near the camera and then it reflect far away. at the moment it just reflects evenly all over.

i have tried various water materials i found online for vray but with no luck.

the mesh is a simple plane (was a realflow wave export) which i have applied the material too. and have a simple vray sun system lighting the room

any help welcome!

NOTE: i can handle the water texture in the sinks (which are meshed particles) being awful, the main problem is the plane of water. and ignore the bad texturing on the rest of the models, havent got round to that yet.

thanks alot

From the angle of your camera and position of water the falloff you have would be doing what you would expect. If you put your own falloff in the reflect slot you can control how it falls off by adding your own flags. To have it non reflective near the camera and reflective towards the wall, your going to need a pretty steep curve and clamped black/white points. Get a good falloff working by just putting it in the diffuse slot of a standard and applying that to the water so you can see what the map is doing.
