View Full Version : Sleeve/Cuff Rigging and cloth/robe

Hey guys,

I am in the pre-production phase of my senior thesis. Right now I am trying to explore ways to rig a a robe/cloak of my main character - a grim reaper.

I've heard about attaching a hair follicle from the wrist to the cuff/sleeve but cannot find much explaining the process or how hair follicles work in general.

Also I have heard about using many blend shapes to animate the rest of the cloak. I'm not sure how effective this is but any feedback on this technique would be appreciated.

If anyone can suggest some links, give an explanation, or help in any other way about the rigging process for clothing/ cloak it'd be a big help.

Blend Shapes are effective and predictable. You can also use a wire deformer around the sleeves and create cluster on the curves to control the motion of the sleeve.
