View Full Version : Have Rigid Bodies gotten worse?

I have been doing some tests with rigid bodies lately, and I decided to do a similar scene to something I did a whlie back. When I did it before, it was on a much older computer with a much older version of Maya. Now I'm on a nearly brand new computer, using Maya 2009, and it chugs, and the simulation is bad. So, did they change something?

i cant point my finger on it, but i bet a lot, that maya 1.0s rigid bodies have been way better and more stable than 2009s :/

cheers

I worked a project earlier this month, and the simulation went much nicer in 2008 than in 2009.

I'm doing some blast code stuff in 2008 and just realizing how slow this stuff is in 2009. I think that there's a real problem here. They need to get Bullet Physics or something in there for basic rigid bodies.

For complex stuff, I usually have to just send it to Realflow not to wait forever. Particles are faster since they have multithreading but dynamics are dog slow.

Bring on nRigids.
