Solesurvivor 07-03-2003, 08:43 PM hey, ran into this problem:
i made a fairly simple robot arm, with hydraulic pumps in the arm.
Rigged the arm with bones, thus far all goes well, but i got stuck on how to rig the hydraulic pump

use a HD IK Solver. Then under the Hierarchy Panel/IK section, set up your sliding joint parameters and deactivate the rotational joint parameters.

or you could replace your hydraulic with a dynamics damper object which looks about the same but allows you to link the ends to stuff and will automatically slide the hydraulic properly
definitely worth checking out :) its under create -> dynamics objects -> damper
mix that with the spring object and you have nice and easy coilover suspension that compresses and stretches to fit your car/wheel :D
