Very cool!
Maybe it's just because I've had a slew of deadlines that all converged today, but I'm seeing a squished 3ds Max logo on each of his knuckles....I think it's telling me I need a break.

So he's a widower? Wonder if that'll be significant in the film...probably will.

No I see it to. (I wouldn't had you not said it but it's so there).
Still very cool. Can't wait. :bounce:

I love Pixar, but that squared off jaw really bugs me. It's such a static, uninteresting shape. But, I do think the model of the boy is terrific. Really looking forward to the movie.

I think the square jaw gives him a really excellent sad, curmudgenly look. But to each his own.

you think this movie will use global illumination everywhere?
i read that they didnt use GI on ratatouile or in wall-e. i read somewhere that they used in the kitchen 150 lights.
are there any links for pixar lighting?

i think the designes are very smart. the kid is is round like a ball and the old guy is square. it has like a deeper meaning IMO.

Did anyone else notice the hidden elephant in the clouds?!

This looks really good, i love pixars style and i really love this style that they have going, not sure how a round ring fits on a sqaure finger though.
the old character has a sad character so square jaw goes well with it....and the kid is also cute....lookin forward for this movie.... :) and afterall it is pixar's movie it will rock for sure....... :buttrock:

i wonder why its upscaled (blurry interpolation)? Its not like its a small image.
But i like the style. Typicall pixar, nice n simple. perfect for animation.

beautiful.. love his design.. totally gives you upfront what he is.. they managed to pull off a symmetircal design and still have it organic enough to be appealing, and a wonderful contrast to the kid.. love it..
So he's a widower? Wonder if that'll be significant in the film...probably will.
just because he has a wedding ring on doesnt mean hes a widower.. but i agree with you, wouldnt be surprised if that played a major part whatever it does bring to the story..

Well...it definitely does look like he lives on his own and is pretty crotchety. The smart money is that this is the case. Maybe his wife wanted to travel, but never got the oppurtunity.
I can see Pixar definitely pulling our heart strings with this one. ;)

Looks like a lot of fun! I will be interested to see how having an old guy as the films protagonist will sit with a general audience. Will we see smaller box office sales because of it?

Love the character. I think it'd be great if they put in a hint of sss in there.
