i havent done any driver updates since i got this card, how do u know when u need a driver update. i notice on nvidias site they have different drivers based on applications and the latest driver they have is 43.51

i checked to see what driver i have in device manager and its says 2.8.8.4

everything is fine, so far just curious.

oh also how do u fix fonts, because i notice for example if i go to the maya forum and look at the section dynamics, the text under it is impossible to read. is there a way to make the fonts a bit more readable. my screen is at 1280x1024, i checked the refresh and it says 60hz , i dont know if this is even the right refresh rate.

dose a monitor and graphic card carry different refresh rates and if so which one do u go by. i have a 19inch viewsonic monitor

any advice appreciated

alright alright...

if you were using a standard video card, Geforce or what not, you definilty want to install the new Quadro drivers, those are stable as can be, and they will allow applications to take advantage of your video cards goodies...

the reason there are so many different drivers, is because, drivers dont' get more stable with age, at least not always, and some drivers work better with some applications than others, I use Max 5.1, and i went with the latest Quadro drviers for my 980XGL, and it is working perfectly, but Discreet didn't have the latest drivers as official drivers, possibly for some problems people are having, possibly because the older drivers are a bit more stable or faster, or possibly because they just haven't gotten around to testing the latest drivers, but i would personally go with the latest drivers, and then step down to the suggested drivers if there are problems, but i do know that Alias|Wavefront does have the latest drivers officially supported

so i hope that takes care of that... go ahead and install the latest drivers...

and if you are having trouble reading text here on the forums, then that is a setting inside your web browser that you can use, go up to View/Text Size to adjust the text size to your liking..

and as for refresh rates, make sure that your monitor is installed correctly in windows, go into the display controll panel and make sure that windows says 'Cornerstone p1700 on Quadro 980XGL' or something, you want to make sure that windows knows what monitor you are using, and after that, go into advanced, and then the monitor tab, and crank that refresh rate up as high as windows will let you, 75hz is good, but i wouldn't work on anything less than 85hz, otherwise you will give yourself head aches after too long.

i hope that answers all of your questions =)
