Hello Everyone,

I'm actually working on my short movie and i'm stuck because of some missing lights.
I'm talking about the famous Mental Ray Area Light,
I search everywhere and it was impossible to find it out...

My 3ds max version is the 2009 one

Here is a Screen of my photometrics Lights ( a lot is missing ) :

I've been thinking about the problem and i think it's due to the modifications i've made (not well) to unlock MR Production Materials, as Zapp told on his blog.

Since then i have this window everytime i'm starting 3ds:

Please help, it's really urgent

I hope somebody have a Clue,

There are no mr Arealights in the Photometric Lights. They are located in the Standard lights dropdown.

As he said, they're in the standard section, at the bottom

mrAreaOmni and mrAreaSpot

There's not a direct area light. It'd kind of defeat the point of an a direct light - parallel shadows.

Mario malagrino is talking about "free area photometric light" and "photometric target area light"

Hope i'm not abusing,

They are no longer "area photometric" they are simply "target light" and "free light" in the photometric lights. Change the Shape/Area Shadows to Rectangle.
