thinking of getting maya complete from journeyed. they have the student version for 599. this site sells products for students at a discounted price, and this version has a perpetual license and it cannot be upgraded.
how much difference is complete from unlimited, other than the price ;)

they sell max too and theres no mention about a license, why is that where it dosent seem like u have to keep renewing the license for max but u have to for maya, and i guess that would be for the non-student version.

Three major things that Maya Complete doesn't have are Cloth, Fluids, and Fur.

just one thing: you should know that you are not allowed to do commercial stuff with a student license (at least that was like that in the past so be sure to double check)

if it is just about learning: go for the PLE or the other way..

be very sure that you dont earn money with a version that does not allow it..


concerning complete and unlimited: as said before that are the tools which are mainly missing..
i think there is still some small difference in nurbs tools.

but as a general rule maya complete is what its name says: it is complete.. so you have all to be happy and create great images with

Maya complete is the core of the program & will give you everything you need. i've used it in the past & was quite satisfied. the only thing i really missed was the fluids (maya fluids - OMFG!)
never really had time to get into cloth though

yeah, spoke to someone at journeyed.com and they told me that you arent supposed to use it for business or commercial purposes. but why does unlimited cost so much more, how much different cant it be compared to complete. on the site it shows that it has fur, cloth, and fluid...
for it to cost so much more there has to be more to it than those 3 things.
actually im doing computer animation in school, so thats one of the reasons i wanted my own copy of the program
