Hey everyone this is my first post here and my first real attempt at a digital painting. Getting some good crits to help me on my way would be much appreciated. Im not very experienced at making images like this so be gentle please :).

Hi

It's not a study if you aren't working from life or an image, it's doodling :-)
If you have a reference, post it so we can see how it should look and help you.
If you don't, get one and do another drawing. You'd be amazed at what a difference it makes.

Hope that helps.

ah yes sorry for the mix up. This is not a a study. I did it from the top of my head. Shall begin a real study and compare.

Hey everyone, been a little busy at college but finally found some time to start a real study. Here's the reference I am working from. So far I am in the early stages of blocking in forms and making sure proportions are correct. As you can see so far the proportions are pretty shoddy in places :) will try and correct them before I go any further.

Any crits are more than welcome!

My thoughts are:
Don't color until you get the proportions right (line drawing)
Use a grid or something similar so you can check your accuracy as you go along.

Cheers

Im not keen on using on grids I'd rather just go by eye and keep changing bits here and there as i see it. cheers for the input though.
