View Full Version : UV's problem
dieGolum 02-24-2009, 06:32 PM Hi,
this is a Poser model, it is a single object with many materials applied to a differents selections, in C4d render perfectly, but when I separate the model in different uv's pieces to take it into EIAS, errors take place like which they are seen in the neck.
this problem also happens in C4d render, when I separate the pieces.
There is some way to apply multiple UV textures to a single model in EIAS?
This model has three UV textures for the skin, please how can I assign them to the model if it is a single piece?
sorry for bad english:blush:
cheers
Diego

I thought O2F separates models by materials. Not sure though, I rarely work with poser models but I do remember Jens mentioned this was the reason they added material button to O2F.

Hi Alonso,
Yeah! that is a good option to divide to the model in material parts, but the problem of seams persists.
in any case OBJ2Fact is the best option to take UV's to EIAS.

Can you show the UVs layout. Maybe circle the area in red that is an exact problem. I can't really tell whats the problem from the first images.
I just did a quadruped last nite.

Hi Diego,
some thoughts:
The seam can be unavoidable, if the textures do not fit perfectly at the seam (the image content, not the position). Recheck in Poser if the seam is visible there too.
If you run the Model from Poser through O2F do not use "recalculate normals", but use the normals of the model.
What export options do you use in Poser?

Thx for chiming in Jens.
I was just talking with one of my clients about UVs and 3D paint. UVs is why I learned Maya and interactive 3D texture paint being the reason I learned Zbrush.
With any 3D paint app you can paint over UV seams.
I just did these UVs last nite in 2-3 hours. I prefer to do UVs manually but, I'm not that familiar with quadrupeds so it took little longer. Plus, the first set of UVs were lost somehow from the XSI. We FBX the animation from XSI into EIAS. I tried to match the textures for the face to lessen the repaint. It worked out fine.

Hi Jens,

as you can see, blue areas are different geometry and different map, camera render percfectly without seams, but just in the red areas with also diferent geometry and maps camera render with seams.
All the rest of the body render ok.
Recalculate normals of on OBJ2Fact

Hi Diego,
Try again without "Weld body part seams". I guess that is the problem.

Hi Jens, same results here without "Weld body part seams" but I have managed to correct it almost completely, putting a little more clearly the map of the face.
I believe that it is a particular problem of the skin of the head, the rest of the body is perfect and also they are different maps.
thank you very much for the help:thumbsup:
