I'm based in the UK and have recently noticed that I'm able to get ADSL at home. :surprised
Considering I wouldn't be paying much more for ADSL compared to my s**ty dial-up connection I'm quite interested. It then got me thinking maybe I could share this connection around the house so everyone could enjoy it... and behold I found these odd things called Wireless boardband kits??? I'm no network admin (I can cope with building a PC, dealing with crashes/conflicts etc) but I've never really understood networking or how I would go about setting one up. So 2 questions:

Does anyone have one of these kits, are they easy to set-up?

Is it a financially sound way for me to securely share an ASDL connection?

You don't need a kit. Just get a wirless router (such asthis one (http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_details.asp?prodID=151)) and a wireless card for each system you want to share the connection with. Most of the time they automatically set themselves up pretty well.

Sorry, thats pretty much what I mean (I could have probably done with spelling the topic correctly too!). I was looking to get THIS (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008DOYO/ref%3Dbr%5Flf%5Fli%5F1%5F2/202-7068874-1912655) but I'm unsure what else I need. Is it just a Wireless Router, ADSL modem, and the client wireless cards?

i'm not a big fan of wireless networking
althought i do have a linksys wireless network setup

if you dont' mind the wires a wired network is much more reliable and much more faster
as i recall it wireless is about 11mb/sec for type B? and wire standard is 100mb/sec
also comes in gigabit network which is 1gb/sec i have this one setup at home

so if wire is no problem then a wired network is the way to go.. but if you don't want to hassle with thoese wires then wireless is your choice left

a Linksys wireless router is i think the best choice
make sure your not around alot of wireless items and thick walls since the router might not be able to go through them

Type G router is the new kind of wireless access faster but not as reliable (i think  ) i heard something about not going through sometypes of walls not sure thought
Type B is "standard" right now slower than Type G but more reliable
