Title: the Slave
Name: Jean-Sebastien Rossbach
Country: France
Software: Painter, Photoshop
here's another cover I did for french editor Bragelonne. It's for the novel The Slave by Carol Berg.
The pitch consisted on showing the interaction between the 2 characters into a Persian location. But I thought I needed a little something extra. I redid the background a couple of time and finally I decided to go to something graphical / ornemental that would give an indication of the persian background, plus it would help keep the focus on the characters.

nice textures on the walls and characters. the lighting is strong. the angle makes it hard to tell if the wall designs are correctly aligned, I think the reddish, border line on the main figures left side is what's throwing me off. If you wanted to, you could align it more to right. All well. Nice rough-painted quality. it carries through well with this piece, and it doesn't look underpainted or unfinished. Good job.

very nice work overall, i think the colors match perfectly, plus i really like the contrasting poses, one bent and the other strong stance, upright.
I'm curious about your method though, did you paint this in gray scale first?

Tout simplement superbe ! En effet la manière dont tu as changé le fond ne fait pas qu'aider à focaliser sur les personnages...elle en a fait des icônes !. L' execution de cette pièce me transcende complètement . Bravo :P
