Hi all. Does anyone happen to know how one goes about creating an extra bright graphic, like those used on 2methods.com? Not so much the electrical charges that are animated, but the extra brightness to some of the images. I also wondered about this effect. . .It can be done solely in flash. Does anyone know what software might be used to accomplish this effect? My guess would be something like Photoshop or would this be a job for something like Maya or 3d Max?

Thanks!

i am not good with 3d appz so not sure how to go on about creating any effect for flash, but most of the blurry edges could def be achieved in PS. I guess most could be achieved in PS but like i said not sure how 3d apps could contribute.

here's a tip, you can make sick blurry stuff on PS and save as .png and keep the transparency to flash. instead of duplicating movies to create the look .png might just be the key to ur questions.

Keep in mind, there is no such thing as "extra-white" on the web.

The whitest a white color can get is 255 white.

So the way most folks do it is simply keep everything else a light grey, then when you want that "brightness", you would transition to pure white for a sec, then back to whatever color you want:)

Hope that helped.

This effect is mostly an optical illusion, it is not brighter at all. Your brain makes you think it is brighter for a couple of reasons.

Contrast. White on black makes white look whiter than white on mid-grey.

Glow. Pure white with a bit of glow around it looks like the graphic is really radiating extra light towards you.

In photoshop type some text, duplicate it and right click > rasterize then gaussian blur this duplicated layer. You'll soon see how incredibly easy this effect is.

I've seen how this is done on

http://devlab.swift3d.com/

you can download the source files there for some of the projects. and see for yourself how some of this stuff is done.
