Hi everyone at CG Society, sorry for bursting into such community with such a low... overall 3d experience...
I'm tryng to find my way into the the fast skin material, did read a number of tutorials, but I encountered a small problem:

left: number of samples: 64 (default) / right: number of samples: 8
It's this strange chess-like problem, am I doing something wrong?
one of the tutorials says that if my skin seen to have too much noise, I should increase the "lightmap size", tryed that and the chess-pattern still remains...
the o only way I found to remove it, is to reduce the "number of samples", wich comes by default 64, but it was only totally gonne when I set it to "8"...
What concerns me is: am I not supposed to "increase" the number of samples, so to get a better result out of the sss? And how do I know I'm not loosing quality on my render when I keep it so low?
character is "Christie" from the Dead or Alive fighting game series; copyrighted by TECMO / Team Ninja (doesn't look like her enough tho...)
