View Full Version : seamless texturing tricks!
Just curious, how do you guys do when you don't want the seams between the different parts in you texture visible. Do you paint in 3d with bodypaint or deep paint or such or do you paint everything in photoshop/painter? Any special tricks I should know about? :) I just can't get it right it seems.

Here is a link /\ its for the web but works for seamless textures to. It is half way down called "Creating a Wrapable Image from a Photo"
Thanks but it wasn't really what I meant. What I meant was when I have unwrapped a model and the different body parts are layed out separately on the same map I get ugly seams between the different parts. What do you guys do to prevent that?

I had exactly the same problem and one way to overcome it is to make your maps transparent as they came close to the seam, overlapping the next map.
eg. the head bitmap fades out when it gets to the neck showing the map for the chest. You can use the opacity channel in max to do that painting a B&W channel in photoshop
Just a thought.
I don't completely understand how to do what you are talking about maxmare, but it sounds like it's only for good use to highpoly models. I want to make models that can be used as game models but I don't truly understand the technique so I can't say.

I am sorry if I wasn't clear. The idea behind all that is simple but sounds complicated when explained in max.
If you are using max I can send you a file illustrating the technique with a very simple model..
Cheers
Yeah man that would be cool, I'm using 3ds max 5. Do you have icq?
