heh, I *was* going to say to go with a logitech wireless trackball, which is what I use. I love it.
I think your hand may hurt no matter what mouse you get. Carpal Tunnel dood.

i've yet to find a wireless mouse that i like. wireless mice have much lower sample rates than wired mice, and as such feel "jumpier" onscreen. plus battery swapping is just as annoying as needing to clean ball mice.
quite honestly, my favourite mouse is the microsoft wheel mouse optical:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/wmo_info.asp
optical mice don't need cleaning, come in USB (for 100Hz refresh, not 40/80Hz like serial and PS/2) and are fairly easy to hold for left and right handers (the intellimice are way too big!). i hate mice with a million buttons (all i ever do is hit the wrong ones accidentally). plus the microsoft mice work great under any platform (PC/Mac/Linux). i've got about 4 of these things attached to my various personal machines, and an office full of them at work.

again, i'm not a wireless mouse fan at all, but this mouse has been getting a lot of attention around the web of late:
Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&CRID=3&CONTENTID=4999&countryid=19&languageid=1).

I was looking on this one (http://www.pcutstyr.no/index.php?vareid=12884&PHPSESSID=6b44894836e78c43446bdb69b4a922b2)
It does not cost that much, but maybe it will go slow and Jump around. The Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse got a lot of buttons and looks nice, but that one cost the dobble of what the a4tech cost. Any more tips and I will be happy :)

I went with a Logitech MX300, and i love this thing!
it is a small, light mouse, and i personally dislike large, heavy mice...
and the resolution on this thing is fantastic!
photoshop is so much nicer when trying to paint around pixels,
this has my vote, and i believe i got mine for $30.. can't beat that! =)
but if you do get a logitech, don't install the software for it, its not the best

I like the concept of a rechargable dockable wireless mouse. I hated battery changeing in the wireless MS mouse I bought. Lost like $35 after I ebayed the damn thing :/.
What is the charge time on the mx700? does it maintain through an 8+ hour day?

it can charge from dead in 2 hours and yes it is supposed to last a long time.....thats the one im getting
I prefer my MS Intellimouse 3.0. But thats me.. :p
Nothing beats a trackball.
Who needs wireless, when you have a trackball? :P
Just MHO. Trackballs are way less tiring than conventional mouses, I think, but we are talking about the one with the ball in the middle right? This one:

Not the thumb-ball ones.
That one is perfect for gaming (180 degree turns in Q3 Arena are as easy as anything), Maxing (or any 3D app for that matter), everything actually.

I charge mine over night, the charging base is powered seperatly from the PC so it doesnt matter if its off or on.
I can usually go several days easy before I need to charge it agin, but I dont use it all day, only about 4-5 hours a day of actual use.

ha! there hasn't been a trackball user i haven't slaughtered in any FPS game. my best mate used to swear by them, until he came to a local LAN and lost every single game. next LAN he turned up to he all of a sudden was a mouse user again. :p

OK, here's a plug to my favorite mouse (at a rock-bottom price):

The one elvis recommended is very nice, but a little short on buttons.
I have to use ambidextrous mice cause both of my arms are fuŠked already.

i find myself constantly hitting buttons i'm not supposed to with a mouse that has anything more than two buttons and a scroll wheel.
maybe i'm just uncoordinated... :)
