does anyone know anything about the new support for sub-ds in mental ray 3.1? i have 3.0 and it wont work, does anyone have an update or know where i can get the upgrade? even the alias site doesnt mention it.....

another question is how can i access the default maya reder globals once mental ray is installed, i cant seem to get it to open.... AHHH!!!!!!

damn, just joined and i'm finding all of these unanswered questions! give up your quest to get sub-d's to render in mray- it's already documented that they're unsupported in this early stage (remember, the plugin is still in beta really); also forget about rendering anything in post like paint effects, glows, fog, etc. forget about dynamics too. there's some other limitations i can't remember- looks like you'll either have to wait til mray is more integrated into maya, or just do your work in separate passes, ie. make non-subD-dynamic-post renders in mray in a separate render passes, and the other stuff with maya's renderer. there's a nice little intro on render passes by Alex Alvarez here:

edit: oh, as for the render globals, they're right where you left them, mray doesn't change that - go to render menu set, under Render...Render Globals
