im having a real hard time trying to get an alpha channel with my hardware render. im trying to render my particle sprites to targas & nothing seems to work.

have i missed something? ive tried everything in the pull down menu for alpha source.

if anyone can tell me what ive overlooked it would be greatly appreciated!

For some reason, maya will not give you an alpha channel with a hardware render if you use targas. I would suggest using either SGI of TIFF. If that doesn't work, make sure you have "hardware alpha" selected in your hardware render globals. Hopefully your video card is capable of it. If not, you may have to use Luminance. Hopefully this will help you out.
