For some reason out of the blue, everything on my computer started running really, really slow.
Apps took forever to launch.
After defrag, scan disk, and virus check, I finally did a ctrl+alt+del (win2K) and looked under the "processes" tab. (should have done this in the beginning)
A program called "regfilter.exe" was taking up 99% of my proccessing power!!!
I couldn't shut it down.
I looked for the program and found it under my norton internet security folder (came with my norton antivirus).
So I just renamed it and rebooted.
It worked but I was wondering what this program does and why it would jam my computer up. Also, do I need to have it run? Is it important for protection?
I would appreciate any input.
Also, my update subscription ran out and haven't renewed it.
You don't suppose that Norton did this on purpose so that it forces me to renew with them do you?
