As far as I can tell the component editor does not function properly under OSX. Specifically, turning on or off "show all columns" does nothing.
If anyone running Maya under OSX could do a quick test for me, it would be much appreciated. Simply smooth skin any primitive to a joint chain. Then select a vertex and then open the component editor, then select "show all columns" to uncheck it. Any joints which have zero influence, to that vertex, should disapear from the speadsheet when you do this. Its not working for me. I have encountered this behavior in 4.5, 5, and PLE under OSX.
This seems like a major bug, since it makes manual weighting without normalization extrememly arduos if not impossible.
I'll admit that I have encountered "bugs" before that were simply errors on my part. Hopefully this is one of those times! :)
