Demonslayer 07-02-2003, 02:46 PM I did a few other projects in the middle, but those are still in-progress. I'm pretty sure this is finished now...

Hey,
Looks pretty good!
There seem to be some perhaps radiosity artifacts along the bottom edge of the object. The rubber texture seems a little too CG, perhaps the specular needs to be adjusted?
Nice work.

Nice work.
Those aren't artifacts, I added a bump map to make it not perfectly flat (and curved), so its a bit uneven and maybe even cound count as dents.
After looking at it more, I'm not quite satisfied with the buttons' material. I will also work on the rubber texture some.
Thanks for the feedback :)
More is better though :p
not bad man you really do have a distinctive style. I like it, however maybe you should try for photoreal someday. I am sure you could pull it off.
Nice work.
its looking good....from a design stand point...though you might want to reconsider having the words cobra right under the screen...just leave the logo...we already know that is cobra from the huge marking on the back of the system...
also the scrool wheel...should be inset so it is almost flush with the surface...right now it appears to be sticking out to far
the tip on the stylus should probably be more rounded... you dont want to srath your writing surface ;)
make a slightly reflective plane above your screen to help simulate an actual screen...also add your screen texture into the luminace channel but sett it low
it also may be your intention but the rubber grips look too sharp....try rounding out the ridges...the valleys can still be sharp
well thats all for now... good work and hope to see more updates

Thanks chi for the long list :)
I'll keep them in mind when I'm fixing it up, thought I did want to mention I do have a a glass layer for the display in front of the main display, I think I took off the specular too much though...
Update will be up later today, have some other stuff to finish first.
one more thing i just noticed.... when using the logo and the words in a horizontal alignment it reads as....SCOBRA.... try to break up these 2 elements so t reads more as logo - cobra

When it really is done, I'll put it in a setup like the 1st image, with the extra views on the side. I did most of the suggestions given to me, except it looked empty without "Cobra" on front, and I really like it there. I also removed the box around the cobra stuff on the back.

it looks good, but it could do with better lighting. right now the lighting is making it look very very flat and making the surfaces look rather dull, and not very realistic. the lighting should accentuate the surface detail, try using several coloured lights (very subtle tones) spread about the scene with some falloff to get rid of the overly strong ambient light look (which is flattening things). anyhow good work.

Try a metalic material.
