View Full Version : permanent "preparing objects" during whole animation rendering

Normally, max has to prepare objects only for the first frame in the animation, as in my work I have displaced plane, with low detail in viewport (like few tousands faces) and high in rendering (few milion faces). But something happened just to this one scene, and now its allways preparing objects, not only in frame one, but all next ones too. (but other scenes are fine, preparing only in 1st frame)

This sucks as hell, since not only preparring objects adds few extra minutes to every frame, but also this is my final project for finishing school, to defend myself on this Monday, and I need faster rendering.

Any idea what the hell might just be going on and how to possibly fix that damn thing, thank you!

you might check to see if your displacement settings were animated or anything like that, as if they were max would have to recalculate them for each frame they were changing.
that's my guess anyway :) good luck

Well, right - it makes sense, but actually it`s not the case. However! - you have helped me to solve this puzzle... it`s not the modification that is animated, but the material itself (im making animation of black and white mountains turn into colour ones, witch animated map/mask in blend material... but isn`t it strange, damn max has to recalcualate all the stuff again and again, and it`s just the material changing. Whotever, I don`t suppose it can be fixed...

thanks for making me think
