Hello all,

I am used to using blender. Although i am quite a beginner i know hotkeys and basic to advanced knowledge of blender. Now i got Maya it is like an alien to me.

All the interfaces has changed and there are far more options and capabilities than blender.
So can anyone give provide me with beginner tutorials and also hotkeys. I know they are in the Maya tutorials post but half of the links are dead. Also can you give me advice on modelling techniques and such.

And what are the advantages and disadventages of using NURBS and polygons
And also it would be great if someone can explain the things in rendering settings such as final gathing and such.

Here is a render of my work following a tutorial:

Much thanks

it is maybe not a bad idea, to learn firstly how to handle maya in general, and then go in a specific area! there is no way to explain this in a few words! but there are some great lectures out there, and they are worth everey cent!

http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/aal02.html

this is a 5 hour lecture, and you get everything you need, to get started!

and there you can purchase this lecture by lecture

there you get the answer of your questions !
