i have tried it all

i'm using windows 2000 along with the latest stable version of wings3d. i downloaded yafray0.0.4.

installed into c:\yafray

changed system variable PATH to include c:\yafray

the option of Yafray shows up in wings3d's render menu

when i try to render it says "rendering error". i added a light, saved the file (it's just a plain old cube). doesn't render at all.

all the options are set to default. yafray works at command line if i type "yafray test.xml" using an example XML file from the yafray web site. so i guess i could export to .XML then manually render.. but why can't i use the menu to render??

to me, it seems like the plug-in tells wings3d to export the image to .XML automatically, then calls YAFRAY to render it. why is it not doing this???? help please!!!

did you check the post wings 3d and yafray explained? its below on this page. your setup sounds find except I noticed something from reading the other post It says for win2k users your path has to read something like this C:\YAFRAY\yafray I use win98se and it works fine with latest stable windows and yafray. also there is a setting in wings preferences to select a prefered renderer look for that and set it to yafray. If neither of that helps I have no Idea.

ok yes. you have to put "C:\YAFRAY\yafray" (case sensitive)in the plug-in preferences command-line box. that's the ONLY way for it to work in win2k.

you dont need to change system variables at all. and u can't install under a directory with a space (ie. C:\PROGRAM FILES)

directions like these need to be specified..

Heh,please don't tell my box if that's the only way to get it to work,
cuz I have it working by just having it in my path :)
One way to check if it's really IN your path,
is to just pop up the run thingie,"cmd",and just type in "yafray".
If yafray is in the path,it will execute...if it doesn't,there's either a typo somewhere,
or something else that's not working as it should...

read my first post.

i already checked that it is indeed in the path. i also tried all permutations of setting the variable for the user, for all users, or for both.

none of them worked.

"the box" is a sure fire way

try using the 98.10e

the 98.11s need to have their plugins recompiled from what i last read and after a few tests at work I got the same error.

My suggestion is stick with 98.10e till it is working in a later release
