just 2 questions:

1. my motherboard supports computer shutdown when cpu gets to a certain temperature, i have a XP3200, what should i set this maximum temperature to so i dont fry the cpu?

2. and for this comp shutdown to work the motherboard would need to be able to detect the temperature, do I need like a temperature sensor to do this? or will the motherboard do it on its own?

Nem,

Go to the AMD website, it will have the info on min and max operating temps for your processor. As for the sensor question, if your motherboard supports a high temp shutdown then the sensor is already on the board, no need for any additional hardware.

Most modern motherboards have sensors on them that can monitor a variety of things, such as: CPU temps, fan speeds, case temps, core voltages, etc...
