hi iam wondering if anyone has any experience using NAT FX trees ( full 3d geometry) with the brazil public version. Iam trying to get more contrast range out of the tree which at the moment all i can do is try and sharpen it up in PS. Id like to see more black in the tree shadows. iam using one direct raytraced light and the skylight with indirect illumination for both. the diffuse and amibient mats have been unlinked and the ambients are all dark greens and blacks. any ideas?

I'm inclined to think that you are seeing

A) jpeg artifacting

and/or

B) the results of image samples undersampling (i.e. Min samples < 0)

and/or

C) the results of bitmap filtering.

With possible fixes...

A) User higher quality settings
B) Don't undersample the image samples
C) Lower the 'Blur' value for the Bitmap map, or whatever NAT FX uses.
