Hi People,

This is a project i did for school about a month - we had to make robot animals.

So...this is my robotic animal, a rhino tank. The tank barrel and mini-turrets retract into his body.

The amour was done VERY hastily, so that's my number one priority for the model.

done using XSI 3.01, I've been using it for about 2 months now. I guess this is my second project, the first being a .... bike

I'd appreciate any comments or critiques. I'll do my best to update soon enough.

-Kolby.

wow that is just too kool, are you going to have like an exhaust pipe comming out of its back too? Like on a Peterbuilt truck?

Geeze.. this is fantastic.. love the design.. the rhino alone is already a very good model.. leave alone the concept parts.

This is pretty, looking forward to see it texture and kick ass..

BTW is it lacking tail?? and maybe u can tweek abit around the stomach skin fold near the hind legs.

Just some comments :applause: keep it up

@ Hollis: I may put some sort of exhaust system on his rear, that would solve the problem of a tail, but I bet people would make fart jokes:thumbsdow

@Darakusan: yeah, he's lacking a tail, I tried putting a tail on him, but he looked ... odd. I'll look into the stomach folds. I'll texture him as soon as I learn how, we're supposed to do UV unwrapping this month :D

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll be posting an update soon.

not sure if you're going for a realistic rhino.. but some of your head elements seem off. eyes are too far forward and the head seems too low in the front. i like the gun elements but i'm not sure what those pipe looking things are in the back and on the sides. also not quite sure what those things around his front legs are.. maybe the legs should be all mechanical or something. these things you have now look like they're braces meant to keep his legs straight.

also is he a free tank rhino or is someone inside driving him?

Hey people,

Thanks for the replies, it's always great to get feedback.

@ d8ed: I agree completely with almost everything you said. My thoughts exactly. As for the eyes, I modelled the face from photos of a bunch of different Rhino Species - the positioning of the eyes, shape of the mouth and position/length/shape of the horns vary considerably from species to species. But you are right, I check all my pics, and the eyes are slightly low, however they are forward enough for my main reference - I'll correct that. The Rhino is meant to be stylized, but somewhat realistic. The pipes on his back and shoulders are exhaust pipes, as he walks they spew clouds of smoke into the air. I HATE the front legs, they were originally modelled to be temporary, but I never had time to remodel them, they will be changed. And yes, the tank is 'free', as in unpiloted.

Anyway, when I get 5 minutes I'm going to do a paint over and some concepts.

Keep those crits coming

I'm taking the model in a new direction - a rhino centaur. I'm just playing around, I don't know if this model will actually go anywhere....as usual comments and crits are appreciated.

geeze awesome.. the body is nice however the chest looks odd..
i think the top part of the chest shouldn't be seperated ^^
they should like join up. You get what i mean?

Nice effort.. hmm a rhino centaur mix... very interesting

nice! :)

I would pull that human body backward enough to let that whole thing look balanced.

and... I don't think the new idea is bad, but for now, previous one surely looks better. :D

Awesome model, man!

Just one thing stands out for me: the back half seems way too small, like it was scaled down by 1/3 or 1/2? I know you're going for a stylised rhino, but if you wanna go the centaur path, your gonna need some major bulk, in back, to support the front with.

Just my 2 cents worth

Cool geometry!
I think the body is sitting a little bit too high though. I also like the original rhino design.

cheers

i like the tank idea but i think the first horn should be just a bit thicker it would add some weight to his head:wavey:
