its been awhile since i last posted in the gallery,heres a speed painting practice i did yesterday after office hour,mainly played on the mood and colors,no reference use.completely painted in ps.:)

I love this. Trying very hard to get this level of believability and atmospheric perspective in my own environmental pieces. You make it look so easy.

A few refs wouldn't hurt anyway. The rendering is cool but I would personally think on shot composition (two parallel rigs and ocean surface... they are all share the same lines or planes, I would try to break the monotony by using different shapes or angles). You've also forgot about shadows/reflections from the distant rig. Some crazy texture brushes would help you with ocean surface too.

But those are just ideas/suggestions. The piece is good so keep rockin'!

I really like the mood of this - there is such a sense of solitude. Compostion and palette work really well. You have blocked in some great shapes on the farther rig and the details that you started adding on the foreground one makes me want to see this composition finished! Beautiful work!
