Gimme tha dough and i'll testdrive Mental Ray for ya :)

Seriously though... it's just a matter of time i guess..
There is just one question that i would like to ask.....

Is Mental Ray any fast ?

I've tried the caustics plugin for Maya and rendering took quite a long while, how will mental ray or any other renderer handle ?

Can't say from experience but I'm pretty sure that its alot faster.
Hahhah, That's why alias gives that damn caustic plug-in away for free. 'cuase its soooo slow they'd have lawsuits on they're hands if they actually tried to sell it.

Oh yeah, AW just posted the caustic and diffraction plug-ins for release 4 on they're site.

From what I've heard(albeit all second hand information of the soft version, hehe)
mental ray is actually kind of slow.
But it depends on what you're doing,
for instance, the first time rendering GI and such, will
be quite slow, as it need to calculate everything, but after that it's much quicker.

Or so I hear, hehe
