OK so I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem but its rather hard to learn how to do IK without an example of a model and a good IK setup to look at.... and the problem is that I am not very good at character setup (whenever I try to attach nulls and move them it makes the geometry all crazy like) but i still want to learn how to animate. Does anyone know where i might be able to find a model /IK setup to play with and also look at, maybe even one set up with weights and stuff? Thanks!

Check out Timothy Albee's book "Lightwave 3D Character Animation" published by Wordware. Invaluable book.

Thanks for the models. It's gonna be interesting learning enough about maya animation to make this make sense to me, but its a great start! And i also ordered that book, so thanks for the advice!
