Hey everyone I have pulled my hair out trying to figure out what could be wrong and finally I turn to you all for help

Here is the situation I am running an AMDXP 2400 with a TI-4200 Ge Force with 128 MB of ram on it. I have 2 sticks of 512DDR ram.

Whenever I try to play Urban Terror or Wolfenstein Enemy Territory online The game freezes and the annoying message from Microsoft comes on telling me that it must close. I have swapped out the Ram and it still does it I have updated the drivers for the video card and updated the Direct X to version 9.0 and still it happens also sometimes it just reboots the computer during my game. Does anyone know what it could be, and what I can do to fix it?

if windows gives the error message, like an illegal operation or something, something in the game install or the OS has gone bad.... a code error. However, it sometimes might be an IRQ conflit or something else that may lead to a software glitch. Move around ur PCI cards to see if that does the trick.... hardware conflicts arise sometimes even if Windows says they're all working okay. Usually, the only time RAM becomes an issue is if ur playing and all of a sudden the whole system freezes or the whole system just shuts down/restarts or something.

Thanks for your help. The whole system does not freeze just the game, however when I start playing enemy Territory within a couple of minutes the game freezes or it reboots my machine.

so if the game freezes, u are still able to revert to Windows? Then it's a software glitch with something. Check the installer... try re-installing and that might do it. Sometimes in the case of a game freeze, it might be a video driver or something that went awry cuz those games require quite a good bit of processing power to keep running smoothly.

I will uninstall and reinstall it tonight, and yes I can still go back to windows. When I run all my CG and graphics programs it never does this, but as soon as I go to online games, bam! that's when it happens. I updated my drivers for my T14200 last night and it still did it. Could it possibly be due to heat?

Please follow the troubleshooting tips in the sticky of this forum.

It would also help to know your operating system, your currently installed driver sets, and your motherboard designation.
