I am looking for some free 2D application to teach some children some animation with. The ones I found proved ok, but I am looking for something better than that.
Does anybody know of anything ?
thanks !

I found Plastic Animation Paper 4 to be the best free aplication.

It comes in 3 versions, and one of them is free with enough tools to do great animations.

I`m using it professionally (home edition), it`s awesome.

Buenas Noches ;)

P.S. If that can be any recommendation for you, before I actually bought home edition I used free version to do both:

Well it is great application !
I couldn't find if there is a support for layers though, and some color ?
Anyways, it looks really intuitive and fun !

Well, layers are only for the "ultimate" version for ~600 euros ;/

Coloring should be made in other application after exporting frames from PAP.

Pencil is another great free 2D app, simple to use, does it's job well. - http://www.les-stooges.org/pascal/pencil/

If you're willing to spend a bit, I'd recommend Digicel Flipbook, amazingly simple and really good to use, doesn't have 189012932 buttons, you just draw, go to the next frame, etc. - http://www.digicelinc.com/index.htm

Wow guys these are great applications ! Thanks ! The latter can not only save a swf which I can use in AE later, but also supports color, I am grateful, people, really.

How come I didn't bump into them with google ? :]
