tmas73 07-01-2003, 02:08 AM Whats the easiest way to create bat wings that open and close, with rubbery material in between the structure. Dynamics, IK, Bones, MAnual animation?? Any ideas??

Hi. I would say to use two bones on each side. (One Side)One from the center up to the kink and one a child of that on that extends to the tip. Weight the geometry of each half of the wing to the bone above it and you should get some stretching. If you have mocca once the wing is in the new shape you can adjust the geometry of the lower wings to get the stretch just right using pose morph. If not you may want to put a third bone out of the hierarchy that just stretches from the kink in the middle to the bottom and wight it to the middle. If you do this you will need to weigh the three bones seperatly with the third middle bone jsut effecting the lower middle of the wing. Then move this bone indepedently of the others to get the stretch. Just a few ideas to get the ball rolling. HTH
you could do it all with morphs and PLA. if its just wings it can't be that complex.
